Have your Cake and watch it
It's a rash of live concerts here at kerplink! This is a live webcast by Cake, I think to make up for them cancelling a European tour. All of the songs played are requests made by viewers of the webcast when it was live, yesterday. Found via everybody's favourite ex-Trek star, Wil Wheaton. [is it ok for me to confess the Wil Wheaton crush I nursed after watching Stand By Me as a young teenager? He just seemed to sensitive, with his writerly sensibilities & perfectly slicked-back mid-1950s hair! Ooo-wee-ooo, he looked just like (a very wee) Buddy Holly. Sigh. -- Sophie]

Jonathan Richman review
Pitchfork gives this new Jonathan Richman album, Her Mystery Not of High Heels and Eye Shadow, 8 out of 10. If the songs that Sophie and I heard him play last October are an example they were, indeed, very good. I certainly remember him playing From Springtime in New York and a number of Spanish language songs in amongst older tunes, at the time.

Belle & Sebastian rock Vancouver
Here is a RealAudio stream of the B&S show from the Orpheum in Vancouver BC from September 13th 2001. It's 55 minutes long and the quality is really good - give it a listen. Bought to you by those lovely people at CBC Radio - Canada's finest.
