Rufus Wainwright, Gorgeous Boy Singer
My new favourite song, the one I've been listening to on endless mp3 repeat since last night, no doubt driving my housemate crazy, is "Cigarettes & chocolate Milk." You can listen to it, and all the other songs on Poses, at Rufus' site, linked above. Rufus kind of everyone's darling these days, with a new album out this week and a song on the Moulin Rouge soundtrack, and profiles in a zillion pop culture magazines. He's probably one of those celebrities that I'd absolutely hate in real life, but at an objectified distance, I can't get enough of him. He's so beautifully, lusciously unattainable, so witty, so gifted, so darn pretty. I want him & Stephin Merritt to fall in love and make beautiful, mordant musical babies. Hey, it could happen: they're both on the Wotapalaver tour this summer!

Shake-Ups in Fashionland
Kate Betts (formerly of Harper's Bazaar is out of a job. Bonnie Fuller (Glamour) is out of a job, having refused to sign her renewal contract for so long that it was finally taken off the table. Anna "Deal With The Devil" Wintour (Vogue) had something to do with all of it. You can be sure that eventually, Gustave will dish, in full, on how all of this came about.

Eat Your Heart Out, Lakers
Yes, I'm a fair-weather fan. No, I can't explain a fast break. I don't care. The well-rested, fast, agile, super high-scoring, playoff-sweeping, championship-winning, home court advantage-having Lakers LOST to the tired, sore, injured, tough, scrappy little 76ers, and I watched it, and it made me whoop with joy and shout neener neener yee-hah! I said earlier today that I didn't care if they lost the whole thing, just as long as they won this game. And they did. I'm feeling the love, all the way up here in Toronto. Plus, my Dad's in town! Today just couldn't be better.

Is There A Stain on Mai Tai?
Matt's got a new mix available for trading. It looks like it'll sound faaaaaantastic! Plus, the title is such a cleverly adorable pun. How can you resist?

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes!
April's moved on up to the deeeeluxe apartment in the sky. Which is to say that she's got her own domain. It's cool, baby. Check it out. Just use Explorer, 'cause it could look like butt in Netscape (though I haven't had a problem with it).

Jejune's New Design
One word: scrumptious. Go now to feast upon the summery gorgeousness that is Katie's most recent design. And while you're there, think some thoughts of thanks to her for linking this indispensable visual thesaurus of gang signs.

Found Magazine
Via the TAL list. I love this kind of thing: people find stuff -- photos, toys, shoes, notes, flyers -- and submit them to the magazine along with a few details of the circumstances under which they found them. I'm particularly fond of Page Me Later in the Notes section, and can't wait to hear the Ypsilanti All-Starz instant classic "Yo Shit Be Up In My Face" in Audio. Look for Found at a groovy bookstore near you! If you're in Chicago, go to the release party this Friday.

Who's Canadian?
I kinda wish I were. Apparently, famous Canadians are wacky and bizarre to many Americans. If you want to skip the site and just listen to the program on Real Audio, click here.

Monsterillo
Brought to you by Michael Wertz and friends, Monsterillo is where you can learn all about artists working to market themselves as a team, and where you can get your fortune told. Apparently, in the world of numerology, I'm a rollicking 5, a super-square 4, and a slothful, indolent 9. I'm a little bit disturbed by all of these possibilities, so I recommend doing the numerology thing for entertainment only.
