Big Dame Hunters
Proof positive that my mood is much improved: I'm responding to really bad puns by laughing out loud. For more excellently corny (to say nothing of retro va-va-va-VOOM!) cover art, see here.

Breakfast Zine!
I love breakfast. I could eat breakfast at any time of day. My family has a tradition of eating breakfast for dinner, both at home and when we dine out at diners (we are from Jersey, after all). I like to refer to eating breakfast as brekifying, because the act really deserves its own verb. Anyway. I found this site for a zine all about breakfast! There's only two issues so far, but they're both very promising. Why not read this article from Issue One, all about Al's, a cramped diner in the Twin Cities? Or just peruse the TOC for Issue Two to whet your appetite. Yummy.

No More Mothers Who Think
At last, Salon has changed the offensive name of a good section to a good name of a good section. Surely, I was not the only one who thought "Mothers Who Think" was a hideously ill-judged name for a section about parenting, family, education, grown-up kids' relationships with their parents, health, and all the other stuff that goes into Life? The name seemed to say, "well, we know you Mothers Who Think are just a tiny minority, the exception to the rule. Aren't you glad we're throwing you a fricking bone?" Um, no, but thanks for thinking of them. Yeesh. Anyway, now the section formerly known as MWT will now be called Life. And it's about damn time.

Blah de Blah

I'm Little Miss Crankypants today. I'm annoyed with myself for not having done any work yet today. I'm annoyed with Nedstat for whatever technical problems they've been having all week. I'm even finding reasons for being annoyed with the beautiful snow that's falling - it's not sticking properly, the flakes are too small, it looks like it's about to turn to rain at any second. It just irks me. Snow, people! One of the reasons I moved here was to experience regular snowfall during the winter months, and now it's working my nerves. It's a truly pitiful state of affairs. Please feel free to stay far, far away until my mood improves. I'm going to the library.

Early Bird Buffy Review
Courtesy of Loey. This one looks good, people! Thank goodness sweeps are here - at last, four new episodes, all in a row!

The Shaaa-zay Café
When Fix Your Wagon speaks, I listen. Particularly funny: Teen Mags. Ok, ok, it's like shooting fish in a barrel, but these two are so wickedly funny in their NSYNC deconstruction.

More Stephen Gaghan
A very in-depth interview with the NYT (free registration required). What an incredibly harrowing experience he's had. And I agree with Gaghan about drug addiction - it's a public health issue, not a criminal justice issue.

Roundabout Link Logic
Ok, you want some circuitous link finding? Here goes: I read over at hellsblog about Hellsbelle's friend Steve's entry over at girlboy. So I read it and was duly charmed. Following a link from that entry, I found his own diaryland diary, schup, which included this lovely entry right here, about the late basketball player & coach Al Maguire, who was also something of a gorgeous (possibly accidental?) language stylist. Which in turn, reminded me of the peculiar & memorable writing style of the late Ernest Noyes Brookings, one of the most famous residents of the Duplex Planet. So here are some Brookings links, too: This is one of several compliation albums put out using Brookings' poetry as lyrics. And here is a review of one of Brookings' books of poetry. Good, surreal stuff, folks!

To-Do List Magazine
I am such the queen of the to-do list. I keep them on post-it notes, on my calendar, in my planner, in the margins of my notebooks, in my journals. I love them. And now there's a magazine all about them! Yay!

Stephen Gaghan Interview
Oooh, it's nearly time for the Oscar (TM) nominations to be announced and I'm all aflutter. So Steven Gaghan, who wrote the screenplay for Traffic, gives GWB hell in this interview. Go get 'em, (crouching) tiger!
